A Rights Managed image tends to be more exclusive and of a higher quality, price being predetermined by the type of usage you have in mind. A RM licence entitles members to a one-off publication of the image dependant on the eventual use or publication it is intended to be used for. Example: Calendar, CD Cover etc. For each new or additional usage another licence fee will have to be purchased.

Royalty Free images are images that are priced depending on size of file as opposed to depending on usage as with RM. This means that a user can use the image as many times as they like for as many different projects without having to renew the licence.
